Guide for flashing atmels in DOS
((There are programs you can use for this, but if you're
like me, I have enough
stuff in my dss folder!! Besides, DOS is recommended and isn't as hard
as it
sounds!))
After you have downloaded the zip file you want (WT, WTX,
WT2, Su2, HU, BL, or
BSC), create a new Folder on your C: drive named Atmel. (Makes it easier
to find
in DOS.) Then unzip file into that. If exe file has a name longer then
8 letters,
rename it.
Example: The file atmelflash.zip (HU code) will unzip to be atmel-load.exe
and in
DOS will read as atmel~~1.exe, a little confusing if you're not familar
with DOS.
(This is the file I'll be using in this guide.)(It may be called something
else,
depending on where you get it, huflash, atmelhu, whatever.)
Connect unlooper/loader (if you haven't already configured it) open winex4.6
and
set it to the right com port for you. Default is com 1, I need to use
com 2 for my
unlooper or programmer to work. Your system may be different.
If you have ExtremeHU, open that. It will tell you if device is detected.
If not, try
a different com port.
OK, after you downloaded atmelflash.zip and unzipped it into new folder
in C:
drive named Atmel and renamed atmel-load.exe to atmel1.exe, you're ready
to
begin.
Restart PC...when it says...Loading Windows...press F8
key, then
select...Command Promt Only. If you miss it, try again.
NOTE: THIS IS NOT TRUE DOS, BUT IT'S THE NEXT BEST CHOICE.
you'll see
c:\>
now type
cd atmel
hit enter
now it should be
c:\ATMEL>
now type
dir
hit enter
it will show files...
now type atmel1 (or whatever code you want to flash atmel
with)
hit enter
Your flashing! (If you have unlooper/loader connected right.)
When it's finished, it will say "done".
now type
win
hit enter
You're back to windows and ready to program hu cards!
(Print this out and follow the steps.)
Good luck!
((Thanks to QuAz for providing the info! I just made it
a little easier to follow...for
us who are clueless about DOS.))
